I always loved the nature walks in the national parks with the park rangers. I think they are so important to getting people to understand the importants & beauty of our parks. Though it was free when I went, I would not mind if there was a charge. This could help in funding our national parks & enhancing people's understanding.

This is the first time that I heard about Pineland Preserve. My wife was born and raised in Homestead Florida just to the north of Florida City and I was stationed at Homestead Air Force Base from 1958 to 1965. I camped in Everglades National Park on many occasions and was always thrilled watching the wildlife to the point I got more involved with protecting the environment and wildlife. I even took up photography as a hobby spending many days just going to the park to make photos but unfortunately never really persued it.

Late last year while visiting friends in Miami we took a ride to Everglades National Park and saw first hand the damage done by Andrew. Some of the places where I camped are now just weeds and schrub, it was very depressing. Is anything planned to restore those campgrounds? If so I would really enjoy being there again.

Thanks for showing those youngsters about the environment and how to protect it. Too much time is spent by the youth these days texting or playing computer games etc. As a city kid growing up I always looked forward to summers at my grandparents in the mountains of New York State. I guess that is one of the reasons I love being outside as much as I do, even if its just caring for my yard. Kids need to be outside and schools need to restore the old way of recess.

Thanks again for instilling some ideas into those youngster.
